Antibiotic recommended? After Fox attack-swollen eye

Thank you for the info on antibiotics and which are best for wounds. As far as I know this is her only injury. She ate and drank some today so I think she's going to be okay. She is a huge ten pound hen which I think is working for her. Also the reason why the fox didn't just scoop her up and run off with her when he saw me bounding down from the deck. I'll keep at the neosporin and warm compresses and hope she makes it. I may try some arnica in her water, not the tetracycline though. Maybe a little garlic and some red wiggler worms too. No scrambled eggs, that's a revolting source of protein in my opinion. Mad cow anyone?

Merci for all of the help! Much appreciated!

You'll feed worms and risk passing intestinal worm eggs to your bird, but you won't feed a bird scrambled egg? Mad cow? Lol. Chicks survive on egg yolk for the first few days of their lives, so that shouldn't be revolting. In fact scrambled egg is a good source of nutrients as a resort when hens are weak or go off feed. it is soft and easily digested. What dosage of arnica would you use for a 10 lb hen as an alternative to antibiotics?

I'd suggest setting a cage trap regularly if you are seeing fox. Trapping and culling them is the only way to keep the population down.

I put several pellets of arnica in a gallon of water to aid in healing, not as an antibiotic. The garlic may help there, but she wasn't interested in the food when I mixed the garlic with her yogurt and oatmeal. The worms I gave her are from an indoor compost bin and no, I'm not worried about her getting intestinal worms.

When we've set traps we get skunks every time. We have quite a bit of development going on so I think between houses and neighborhood dogs it's just a matter of time before the fox relocates.
