Antibiotic Withdrawal Period

My three chickens are curently on Agrimycin (oxytetracycline HCI). I've read not to eat the eggs during and for 5 days after treatment.
My question is why? I know the antibiotic shows up in the eggs, but what harm is there to me? Can I feed them to my dog?

minute amounts will show up and this might possibly increase the chance of resistance issues...

Yeah, just concerns on increasing drug resistant strains by increasing the number of bacteria exposed to the drug. Either way though, just using it on the birds puts them and you at a risk of having that drug or that drug family members be ineffective in the future if you need it.
