Antibiotics and eggs

Lets say you only wait 11 days what are the side effects for people and why is there a waiting period in the first place?

Happy Greek Farms..

There are a couple of reasons for withdrawal periods. One is so that you are not inadvertently consuming low levels of a drug that may not approved for use in humans. Two being that consuming low levels of antibiotic's that may remain in the eggs carries the potential to increase antibiotic resistance of certain bacteria's.

Can the chickens eat the eggs? I hate to just throw them out.
I dont recommend it. There's residue in the eggs no matter how minute. Feeding eggs back to chickens can extend the withdrawal period but more importantly build antibiotic resistance to bacteria the next time the product is used, making it ineffective. You've heard of antibiotic resistance in humans, same is true for chickens.
