Antibiotics for bumblefoot

@Isaac 0 Yeah, that looks bumblefoot to me. And I should say that bumblefoot is also light-colored).wherever it's close to the surface of the skin (except at the dark plug.
The bulges from gout usually on side areas of the toe, I'm thinking. There is a photo of gout 1/3 of the way down on the Poultry Podiatry page on my website.

That is a picture I found online, of Bumblefoot without the core. That is not my bird, but I highly suspect that is the case with the previous poster's bird. I have not seen many cases of gout in ducks; most cases of localized swelling on the plantar surface has been related to bumblefoot.

The picture above is from your website, correct? Was this bird confirmed to have gout? I ask, because the swelling looks quite minimal, and it seems more likely a combination of scaley leg mites, and overly long toenails, could cause infection, and skeletal damage in the toes.

In cases where I have seen Gout, it has looked much more like this :

Ouch, that gout looks awful! Where do you get these pictures??!--ack! :sick

Full details on my gout photo: Yes, my rooster, Pioneer. He lived by himself too much with little activity, had high-protein feed, and took a number of meds over the years. About age 6, he started getting swellings on a few places on his toes on both feet. They didn't seem bumble-ish but I worried, so I actually did cut in and try to clear out some and verified it wasn't bumblefoot. It was hard to pinpoint clearly what was causing swelling even after going in. I don't think there was infection. I hadn't waited til swelling got very big, and I tried to find at least the most swollen spot left afterward so I could illustrate a little to help others avoid mistakes. Scaley leg mites were being treated (Tips of scales are clipped if you look close), nails usually a reasonable length, and the protrusions worrying me weren't bone knobs (though camera angle not clear & I had removed some already). Background and ruling out alternative conditions pointed to gout to me, but not diagnosed by another person. The photo really isn't great though. Any chance you might be able to find a better illustration by a photographer who wouldn't mind me using it? I'd love that! 👍

The duck's foot looks like it does have a very small bumble “plug” entrance that would've opened larger when dug into. Sometimes they can be proportionately pretty small compared to the swelling. Look at the one on the case I just did surgery on! (An ack photo of mine, lol!)
