Hunted for poultry antibiotics today at Tractor and Supply. Could only find antibiotics for beef, goat, horse and swine. Some of them had to cross over certainly, but I was woefully ignorant. I figured chickens were not worth the investment to have their own supply.

The antibiotic I saw prominently was oxytetracycline I believe. Can it be used and in what dosages? Or are there others? I would like to have a supply on hand in case something happens.

Most antibiotics were pulled from the shelves.
A vet can still prescribe them to you for poultry though.

Antibiotics are not a cure all when it comes to chickens...they will only help in certain situations.

They have not had most oral antibiotics available over the counter for animals for a year in the US. This was done by the government to help prevent antibiotic resistant bacteria down the line. A few injectable antibiotics remain available. Tylan 50 injectable is one for cattle that is used against some respiratory diseases caused by bacteria. It can be given orally or by injection. What are you looking to treat?

Tylan 50 is a good one to keep around. It treats some respiratory, and some intestinal infections. Corid, which is not an antibiotic, is good to have on hand when you have a coccidiosis outbreak. It comes in powder and liquid form. SafeGuard Liquid Goat Wormer is a good wormer to keep around as well. Most of those can be useful.
