I have a hen who has only what I could thing of/refer to as a large sore on her lower side next to her vent. She has been getting soaks and treated with a spray on wound care and it will not heal. It is hard and scabbed over but doesn’t look like a normal healthy scab. I have seen no improvement at all and it’s been a couple weeks. I don’t see her pecking at it but maybe she is when I’m not around. Should I give her some antibiotics and see if that helps? I have never given antibiotics to a chicken before so don’t know what would be best.
I have doxycycline here, or I could get her penicillin..or is there something else that would work better?
