Hello. I have given an antibiotic in water for one day (3 teaspoons in 3 gallons of that is what was recommended to me) after freaking out thinking they were sick. It’s not my first time owning chickens but my first time owning 60 at a time for egg production. My question is: considering it was given for one day, will they develop a high resistance to any other antibiotics bc of this? Also, how long should I wait to give out eggs if it was given for that one day? I personally don’t mind eating the eggs. To my understanding, there’s small traces of it in the egg. Definitely learned to not freak out for any little thing.

I doubt they would develop resistance after a day, I think they'll be ok
What about the eggs? Do you think it’ll be okay to give them out to my family? They’re 19 weeks and just started producing 2 weeks ago I’ve been giving them out so far because they’re laying small. I don’t think anybody would want to buy tiny eggs.

The big reason why people do not want your eggs to come from chickens which have been given an antibiotic, is resistance, as has been mentioned. Resistance does take some time to develop. The "Organic" radical customers, would not want those eggs. I, however, would eat them no problem. I would feed them to my family without a qualm.
