Antibiotics?

Can you post a picture? Most require the bumblefoot surgery if it is serious, and then it should heal. Penicillin shots can be used to treat it if needed, but the surgery may be the most simple thing. Here are a couple of links with videos of the surgery:

Over a week ago I did the surgery, and all seemed fine, but when changing the bandages this last time it was swollen badly, and once I took off the bandage the scab came off and it was so swollen and just like raw meat on her toe and I tried to squeeze and there was just SO MUCH BLOOD. I had to just leave it and wrap it back up.. I'm so lost here.. Every vet wants $80 just for me to walk in the door .. I'm so anxious and worried over this little toe!!

You might try soaking the foot in warm betadine and water or chlorhexadrene once a day, and then re-bandage it with plain Neosporin, gauze, and vet wrap. Procaine penicillin G is found in the refrigerated medicines at most feed stores. For chickens the dosage is 1/4 to 1/2 ml given 1/4 inch deep into the breast muscle once a day for 4 days, using a 20 gauge needle. For Gallimycin ( erythromycin) use in the water, here is a link to read: http://www.drugs.com/vet/gallimycin-pfc.html

Thank you for the advice. The only store around me that sells antibiotics is tractor supply, and they don't seem to have either of those medicines ;( where whould I find beta dine or the other? I did buy Epsom salts and neosporen today. I had already been using vetericyn.

I found the medicines! Thank you so so much, I now feel that I have a plan! Now I just have to gather the kahunas to give this bird some shots! Is that difficult??

You must have someone hold the chicken, and have everything ready. Just don't insert the needle too far in, and always pull back or aspirate the needle to make sure that you aren't in a vein. Alternate injection sites to each breast daily.

So I gave her a bath in baby soap, soaked her feet in betadine mixed with water (wasn't sure of a ratio or how long) for about 5 minutes. I blow dried her and she purred and closed her eyes, it was so sweet. Then I sprayed her wound with vetericyn, applied triple antibiotic ointment and wrapped with gauze then vet wrap. Then I watched a couple you tube videos to find out how to locate her breast muscle, and I held her on her side and all by myself I administered the shot! I feel really proud. Do you have any idea what I should expect after the four days of injections? What the wound should look like? When it should be healed completely?
