what type of antibiotics do I need for a bad bumble foot? My husband says I can get the same medicines at tractor supply that a vet has, is that true? The only vet in my area wants $73 just to walk through the door

Can you post a picture? Most require the bumblefoot surgery if it is serious, and then it should heal. Penicillin shots can be used to treat it if needed, but the surgery may be the most simple thing. Here are a couple of links with videos of the surgery:

You might try soaking the foot in warm betadine and water or chlorhexadrene once a day, and then re-bandage it with plain Neosporin, gauze, and vet wrap. Procaine penicillin G is found in the refrigerated medicines at most feed stores. For chickens the dosage is 1/4 to 1/2 ml given 1/4 inch deep into the breast muscle once a day for 4 days, using a 20 gauge needle.
