I think my son-in-law just uncovered an antique incubator thermometer! We live in an old farm house and my DH is updating the "old kitchen" to become his workshop for his european mounts, son-in-law just brought this old thermometer to me it is a Buckeye. It is on a metal mount with a scale for the thermometer in white, what i find interesting is there is an arrow pointing directly to 103 degrees!!

Hi tigerkitten45

Here is a picture of the thermometer that came with the 846 100-egg Brower Incubator my father got in the early 70's before I was born. The arrow pointing directly to 103 I would think would be the temp. that you would not want to go over as the ideal temp. for the still-air Brower Incubator is 101 to 102. As a kid I watched my father hatch many chicks in this incubator. For the last 20 years or so it has been setting up, so I decided to fix it up.

In the last couple of weeks I have replaced the Heat Element, Thermostat, Microswitch, Wafer, Pilot Light and Power Cord. Next week I plan to fill the incubator with eggs.

It's actually pointing at 103 degrees, which appears to be a guideline as what temp not to go over. It should actually be from DH's parents day or possiblt before that but i doubt if it would be that old.

Hi Backyard_Chicken_rancher

I think the arrow is pointing to 103. In a still-air incubator the ideal temp. is 101 to 102.

DH and i are now checking to see if it works by placing it under the heat lamp for the newest babies. LOL i have eggs in the bator right now, maybe i should put it in?? What do you think?

At this point no, but check back later, it is actually up to DH as it would be his from his parent's, they apparently used to raise chickens too, upstairs in the barn!!
