Ants attacking injured chick

I have a rescued appx 10 weeks old. He is injuried around his neck. Injuried so bad that i can see the flesh and possible cut(s). the injury is drawing ants...how can i protect him from the ants?

Pick him up, brush the ants off, and put him in a cage where the ants cant reach him. If all else fails, put him in like a doggie carrier and let him stay in the house/garage for a few nights. Is the cut actively bleeding?
