Old anvils have some real value and usually roughly so much per lb based on condition. An old anvil that is sound but needs a bit of refacing is usually worth a minimum of two dollars per lb at country auctions and if there is something about it that is unique or in great shape in goes up from there. I would guess your anvil to be worth a minimum of 250 without seeing it. I doubt if it is worth 500 no matter where you are.
