Anxious First-Timer

Hello everyone! I am a suburbanite-turned-city-girl-turned-country. I've always been interested in raising chickens and finally decided to take the plunge a few weeks ago. I now have ten three week old mystery chicks, who I fret over night and day. It's nice to meet all of you and I'm really looking forward to any wisdom you can impart!
Welcome to BYC!!
I joined this forum just before I hatched my ducks, so I've learned a ton along the way- and always have worries and questions which folks here are amazingly helpful with- I'm sure you'll find this community super helpful!!!
Be sure to ask if you have any questions on navigating the site or making threads! Happy to help.
Welcome again!

Thank you for all the welcomes! I don't know anyone personally who has raised chickens before so it's nice to have a group of experts to consult when I inevitably freak out over every little thing. 😅

We're still getting the outdoor coop ready, but live in an area with coyotes, bobcats, and hawks (among other predators) so I imagine I'll be consulting you for advice on its security.

Well hello there Serotonin. Welcome here. Chickens are pretty resilient once they get past the "chick" stage.
I bet your little sweeties are growing like crazy at that age. Aren't they fun.?
My suggestion is feed them some wettened feed or scrambled egg out of your hand to make them friendlier and not so afraid of you. You can also talk to them in soothing tone at the same time.
