Any advice for dealing with bald eagles?

I used the same deer fencing over my run Trish so far has worked outstanding ... One of the main reasons I went with deer fence was it is more visible than netting or chicken wire. I figured visibility was a first line of defence at least deter a spur of the moment attack and not have tangled and mangled hawk to deal with and cover to repair !

To answer my own question... CROWS! As I was going for a second cup of coffee this morning I saw the humongous female flying towards the house. She landed in the closest tree to my chicken run. Just as I was stepping onto the back deck to run her off 3 crows beat me to it. It looked like they came in from different directions and chased her back towards the river. Two lost interest and flew off as one continued to chase her past the river and continued chasing her until I could no longer see them. So... is it possible to attract crows or do anything to encourage them to hang around?

The hawk got one of my adult Bresse 2 days ago. I saved an small old battery operated radio and been playing some music/sound to keep it away. Will see how that workout in the next few weeks.

Following the three S's has never failed. google it. Not saying I condone it or practice it, just saying its a saying for a reason, take it as you will.

DNR and Conservation biologists were no help here. I do not have eagle or hawk problems anymore, but I did put 2x4 welded wire roofing on the main run and chicken wire covering the massive silkie run. I know people mock chicken wire, but I have a hard time believing anything can pull that stuff apart. I use it on my chick tractors and it holds up to coons, possums, dogs, and bobcats just fine.

best of luck anyway with your decision. but sometimes its best to just handle the problem and move along.
