My 2 hens appear to be almost recovered from a bout with coccidia. They seemed interested in chasing bugs and enjoyed sunning themselves yesterday, which is a great sign. The problem is they are still quite skinny. Any ideas if there is a good way to fatten them up again? You can't tell they're skinny unless you pick them up and feel them - outwardly, they look fine. Right now they're still on corid in the water and regular layer pellets. I still give them scraps, but so far they aren't as interested in them as they were before we started dealing with coccidia. Any ideas on what I can give them to help them get some meat on their bones again? They're a BO and a BR who're 3 years old and are beloved family pets btw - I'm not fattening them up for dinner!

Thanks!!!!

Maybe give them a good worming? How do you know they had cocci? The reason I ask is because usually chickens over 17 weeks have built up immunities and don't get cocci. Give them bread, cracked corn, and chopped hard boiled egg yolks to help them pack on some pounds.

Feed them is mix at about 20% of there daily ration, there other 80% should be a good feed that is around 20% protein.
Wheat 50 lbs
Oats 100 lbs
Barley 50 lbs

I would stay away from corn since chickens eat to fill there energy needs, corn is a high energy feed and they will eat less feed.
