Any advice on early hatching

I had heard that you are supposed to put a liner ( like a drawer liner) over the wire in your incubator, or maybe this is not needed?

I don't know much about incubators like that, so I'm guessing you should if others say so. There are no wires in my incubator. (it's home made)
