As for more eggs, check out this post, it may be worth a try.

this time of year you can add a light bulb on a timer that comes on at 5:00 am and they will lay more due to longer days. I'm using one right now and I'm getting 6 to 7 eggs a day from my 8 hens

Chickens need calories to keep warm. Since they roost in the dark, less daylight means less food intake. They are using more energy to keep warm than laying eggs. That's why keeping them under lights for 14 to 16 hours per day helps them lay better.

Throwing them scratch gets them up and moving, and taking in more calories.

Another trick that has worked well for me, mix scrambled eggs, cayenne pepper and yogurt. They don't have heat sensors on their tongues so the pepper won't hurt them.
