Hi all,
I have a little rhode island red hen which I raised with another bird from a couple of weeks old. We could tell the he other was a definate rooster about four weeks ago so we gave him away as we are not allowed to keep them. I bought another chook to keep the rhode island red company. Now, the lady I bought it from is not sure if it is also a rooster! They are both around 19 weeks old (give or take a week or so).
Does anyone have any ideas? There are no hackle feathers, but the tail on the sussex cross has a very slight green tinge and a very red comb and wattle is forming. There are very tiny bumps where spurs would form, but nothing obvious. Neither are laying (which of course would be an obvious giveaway!) - I'm hoping they start soon...!
Any advice/ideas would be very much appreciated...
