hi, my name is Ellery. my family and i have 3 ducks, 2 khaki cambels and 1 muskcovy. now, my family and i have a wedding to go to in june 2020, and we dont know what to do with them! we will be gone for a few days and we will be far away. (we live in Pennsylvania the wedding is in maryland) so its not like we can go back home and check on them. also to us these are not farm animals they are our pets! our muskovy also has deformed legs. she can get around still but its still a concern. she walks like those old wind up toys, like one foot OVER the other. our khaki Lucy is also a bit weak, shes like a runt, sometimes she needs vitamins just to give her a little boost and she gets tired much more easily. now, where we live we technically are not allowed to have them. (even though all our neighbors love them) now speacking of neighbors we were thinking of asking them. our one neighbor even raised turkeys when he was young, yet hes much older now and id hate for him to get possibly hurt, he is even an amputee (he has a prosthetic leg) so please if you have ANY thought PLEASE SAY WE COULD REALLY USE ANY IDEAS

Hey, and welcome to BYC :welcome

I think you should ask your neighbors to help watch your ducks while you’re gone. If you ask now, you can show them what needs to be done before you leave. You have a couple of months, so I’m sure if somebody is willing to learn before then they will.

Why do you think your neighbor with the prosthetic leg would get hurt? I’ve met a couple of amputees, and with prosthetics and wheelchairs they get around almost as easily as the rest of us.

I hope you have a happy wedding, and find someone to ducksit while you’re gone :hugs

:welcomeI hope you enjoy your time here at BackYard Chickens!

I also think the best thing to do is ask your neighbors to take care of them. Do your ducks like to attack other people? Because if they don't, then I don't think there would be any problem with your an amputee coming to help and getting hurt.

Or maybe you could ask a family member or friend that lives close by?

Hi Ellery :frow Welcome To BYC

It sounds like you are doing a good job preparing for your trip next year!
Hopefully some people that keep ducks can chime in and give you some tips, this way you can enjoy going on the trip in June 2020 and not have to worry about your pets.

@WVduckchick @Cayuga momma @Miss Lydia and I'm sure others can help you with questions that you may have.
