    Hi there,

Im new to the whole backyard chicken scene and I've started out with 3 blue maran hens, one black rock and a blue maran rooster, (as far as I can tell).
We have them since last september and there is still no sign of them beginning to lay. They're well fed (layers pellets and wheat mixed through) and watered.
The birds are all in great condition and healthy, they've been treated for lice and mites as has they're coop.
They're keep in a pen roughly 13ft x 9ft, (we have a dog and I wouldn't trust him to be left in the yard with them) and the coop is raised off the ground, The coop is a large coop and is about 4ft x 4ft in size. We bed them down in a good layer of sawdust (I was advised against straw as it can carry mites and lice etc.)
I can't think of anything else t tell ya's at the minute but any advice and feedback would be much appreciated!!

Give them some more time- maybe another month or so. So hard to wait for that first egg!!! Happy Chickening!
