Any advice?

I'm getting some new chicks soon and I was wondering if anyone could answer my questions.....

What is cocci? How do u treat it?

What are the most common chick illnesses and how do u treat it?

What are signs of calcium deficiency or malnutrition?

One of the things I have had problems with, is my chicken being egg bound. The symptoms are that they are laying by themselves, do not lay eggs, and seem to be hunched over. To treat this, you should give the chicken a warm bath for about twenty minutes, then keep her separate from the flock in a dark warm place. There is many other things you can do and many threads on here you can read, bit if all seems lost you can use olive oil on your finger and lubricate her vent. Another is Mareks, this is a hard disease to beat but it has been done. The symptoms are that your chicken will lose weight not lay eggs, put its legs in front of them and limp until they lose function of there legs. I have not found any real good ways to treat it but there are some great threads on here that you can read, Good Luck, and have fun.
