Lol, I can react to the high contrast thing. Nowadays, I try to keep the contrast true to life but there is always the temptation to make my sketches look like ink.

The Luxray design is fun! ^^ Contests can be tough, and judges can help or hurt the process ^^;;

Thanks! I spent a long time on them. I’ve realized that colored pencil is kinda my thing, so I’ve been trying to improve on that. I also have a new opportunity to sell my art (or at least try to sell my art), which I’ve never done before, so that has been a huge motivator for me to improve. Kinda funny how that works.

Yeah! It’s cool when you find out you have a medium you like.
I used to only sketch with the rare colored pencil drawing for color. I didn’t like digital art or acrylics. I wasn’t good at them. But I liked the effect of watercolor pencils. Now I do watercolor, too!
I still like sketching because it is so quick and easy though.
It’s easy to do watercolor on one animal, but the more colors you have to mix the longer it takes. I tried to do a large scene once and gave up when I realized how many hours it would take to actually look good.
