ikr. For most of my characters names I just cheat by looking up rare nature-related words

I don't even know where my names come from. I literally have a document that's just random names that I came up with or heard somewhere.
Not sure what I was thinking with "Yttrium," honestly.

It's based off of "Ytterbium," yes.
Random creatures could be a good source, too -- I kind of want to name a character "Cormorant" at some point.
Just... don't name anyone after the bony-eared assfish. I advise against that. Kind of.

Your story and characters make me want to get back to my own works, honestly. I really like fantasy, and I have a few stories in progress for them. Specifically, it makes me want to go work on a story that I had where this girl from a magical realm is sent to Earth and ends up dragging a quartet of students back with her because her realm is in danger and kind of needs help.
(So cliche, I realize now).
... I had a few paragraphs written down, and it was mostly an excuse for me to go nuts with magic and worldbuilding. And Mirin, the girl. She's a bit insane, but in a fun way.

It might be just because I've been thinking about fantasy while listening to this lately, but this kind of makes me think of your story, @puffypoo:

It’s geeky! It makes me think of my story too, I like it. Most of all I just like the name The Longest Johns tho.

You all are talking about bad names you gave your characters. Well I really don’t think anyone can top the time I named a character “Genocide” because I was like 7 and didn't know what the word meant but thought it had to do with genetics (I also didn't know what genetics was.)
