I’ve always wondered, do you use a stencil or something to make your perfectly round planets?

stencil and stencil mask. I'll do my base pour and then use stencils to find what I feel are the best planets. like this.

Then once I know the locations I want to keep, I cover them with a vinyl stencil mask and paint in my scene around them like this:

So you get a finished piece like this:
