I'd really like to stay with my church and hope it starts doing things like that! They really are nice folks but not real easy to get to know, except for a few. We have a firewood ministry every year and it could be a fun thing if they would just try. Oh, well....I think you may be right, Cindiloohoo, it would be up to me or someone of a like mind to try to inject some fun into our church!
Beekissed -- we do a Mom's night out with a few of the ladies at my church. It is a lot of fun! We try to do it every couple of months. We usually go out to a restaurant and visit for hours. We've also met at a coffee shop. We also plan a big ladies night out every so often -- that's with the whole church (any ladies who see the flyer). We've gone out to eat and headed back to church (have also had everybody bring a snack) to visit and play games or watch a movie. They do have guys night out, too or some of the guys get together at someone's house and snowmobile or ride quads. Doing that is great fellowship with one another and I'd think that it would be easy to do -- just put up a flyer at church. I wouldn't think your church should mind. Great way to become closer with friends at church!
We also have Bible Studies that take place at people's homes -- this is outside of our church -- not affiliated with my church, necessarily. Maybe you could start one and invite a few people over to your home or meet at church or even McDonalds (grab a drink and dip into the Word).
I am gritting my teeth these days at the blatant attempt to exclude anything Christian from modern society when He very obviously, most certainly, without a shred of evidence for doubt....is/was/and is to come. If He is and was...what's the rest of the question even about?
I love being a Christian, it's so wonderfully frustrating at times. God Bless ya'll!!!!!
Well, the apostle Paul said we would suffer persecution, not that it would be a "happy-happy-joy-joy" life. So, I sort of expect to be looked at a bit sideways, LOL.
