God is good, welcome to the family, BarredBuff.

Ephesians 2:8
For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God,

Romans 10:17
So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

Ephesians 6:10-18
Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints

Keep your eyes on Jesus,
Ed

AMEN! My husband and I are missionaries. The Lord has been so good to us. We are here to tell people about the free gift of Salvation.

So, why do other people get into car accidents? I'm a Christian and I really don't understand. I am sincerely asking. Why do other people get hurt or killed in car accidents? Does God not care about them? Is it because they are not Christians? I don't know if I can reconcile that with my idea of an all-loving, compassionate God. If I allow myself to think that he cares whether or not I am in a car accident, I have to think that he doesn't care about all the children that die every day. If he prevents me from being injured, I have to believe that he sometimes does NOT prevent others from being injured. That just doesn't sound like something God would do.

Christian here...."Lord, here I am, send me, send me!"

@ CityChicker - Though the Bible tells us that wicked spirits (Satan and his demons) share responsibility in the suffering we see today, Ecclesiastes 9:11 reminds us that "time and unforeseen occurence" also have a bearing on what happens to us. We may get hurt, not because the Devil directly causes it or because any human does it, but because by chance we are in a place at the wrong moment.

CityChicker:

No, Christians suffer and die just like everyone else on Earth. God doesn't prevent living...it happens to us all, we all have free will and we are all living our earthly lives side by side. It says in the Bible that the rain falls on the rich and the poor, the evil and the good. The difference is that we don't live defeated by the knowledge that this is all there is and no more. We have a relationship with the Creator and we are never alone and we will die on this Earth to live an eternity with God.

God cares and loves everyone and He is not willing that any should perish. By this, it doesn't mean He doesn't want anyone to die....to die is the natural end of a human life. He is not willing that any should perish and not have an immortal life after they shed this mortal coil. Jesus has made it possible that anyone can live past this mortal life. All the stuff in between is just life on Earth...that special time that God gives us to grow up and make our own choices. Traffic accidents, sickness, pain or travail is just a part of life here and no one can escape that, not even Christians. Not while we are here.

The trick is to live your life like this one here is not the only one. It is the short one and one that will be over soon enough and then we can go on to a better one, an eternal one. This life here is a test and a chance to grow in a relationship of trust and love with the Heavenly Father.

My advice is to study the only book that has those answers and get into a good fellowship group that can guide you through it and help you find the verses that will answer your questions. Believing is just not enough...now that you believe, search for ways to be closer to God, to know Him better. It will give you comfort and the answers you seek.

God does not see things from our point of view. We have to try to be closer to Him to see His POV instead. If a person gets in a car wreck, and they don't know Him, maybe that would be the first time they pray. We never know. It is one second in a sea of years that things happen to us. God has a purpose for everybody, and things will take shape from each instance that will continue having chain reactions for eternity. If I am running late and my kids get into an arguement over what color popsicle they want and there is one left of that color...I am not there to teach them that they should not argue. God is there to teach them how to get along or deal with the anger. Maybe He is teaching them tolerance of each other. Dependent on how they react maybe one is learning tlerance and the other is learning to deal with anger issues and not to be selfish. Little things mean just as much as our perception of bigger issues. Things happen because it is part of God's perfect will, not because he has something against or for anyone. God uses trials to teach us. Some lessons may be bigger than others, but it is all God's perfect will for each person.

I didn't mean for it to sound like God just cares for some and not others. God Loves everyone, that is why he sent his son to die in our place. All I was doing was thanking him for everything he does for me. There are so many things that God does for each and everyone of us every single day, things we are unaware of. Without him I would not want to live but because of him I do live. God loves everyone not just some. He has a perfect plan for everyone I don't know what mine is yet someday I will, but I just wanted to thank him for everything that is all. sorry if I caused confusion for anyone.

I don't think there is any need to apologize. Questions are good and the only way one learns. I'm not well-versed in Bible knowledge, so I'm sure my answers aren't the best, but I'm learning every day and I'm searching for answers just like many other folks. What I am finding out has given me great peace and a thirst for more knowledge about God.
