Any CA people need a pretty peahen?

Kathy...you're closest...how about it?

I'll chip in for the rescue effort.
I'm tempted, I really am, but I swore off rescues to to the headaches they usually cause. If they were willing to bring here here I *might* consider it, but it's 120 miles from here. Sigh... I'm also very short on room and don't have a proper place to quarantine her

BTW, Kathy, I wasn't trying to guilt you there!

The hard part about wanting to "rescue" is that it seems to be much more complicated than you can imagine at the time. Peggy was a rescue and he is so wonderful, but I can't even think about the time and expense and vet bills he has had. Even knowing that, it's hard to fight the urge sometimes!

Any of you have rescues? Rescue stories you want to share???

Several of mine are rescues, word gets around that you have them and you get calls. My older IB male was in a chain link dog kennel with a red golden and yellow golden pheasant and they had no food and no water. They were trying to catch and eat the flies buzzing around their poop. Typical divorce scenario, she left him and the birds were her's so he quit taking care of them, she was in an apt and couldn't take them. We brought all 3 home. My really pretty loud pied male Harley is a rescue as well, I sold a white hen to a lady fairly close by, 3 months later she showed up and told me she could no longer have the birds because her husband wanted the pen for goats he was buying, oh and could I take 2 males as well? So I took in all 3 and was stunned at how beautiful the males were, I ended up giving Harley's brother and that white hen to a friend who was also very taken with the boys. My son accidentally left the pen door open and I lost the 2 pheasants about a year after we got them.

I have 3 (fixed ) cats they were all throw-aways. That was 10 yrs ago for the oldest one, and I couldn't ask for better pets!

Well we came home to a dog about to have puppies someone had dropped off we ended up spending serious money to get her well enough to even have the 9 puppies she ended up having. We gave everyone of the puppies to good homes and still see several as most of our family ended up with one. Then we got her fixed and the lady ended up at the vets office wanting her so she also found a good home.

I rescue everything! All 3 of my dogs are rescues. Sugar was saved from being "dog bait". Foxxy was rescued from a meth house. Sony was rescued when my daughter moved and could only take one dog. My cat Eve was rescued from a wal~mart parking lot one Christmas Eve. My Arab mare came from Craig's list. A pick her up by Friday or she goes to the horse auction Saturday type of deal. Turns out she was Pure Bred Arabian Sport Horse Dam of the year (but I can't remember what year). Even part of my chickens are descended from some chicks I rescued from a guy that was going to drown them because he didn't want them.
