Any California gardeners?

I tried pruning my squash one year and found it only works for C. Moschatas and C. Pesos cause they only produce male flowers on the vines and females on the main stock. Maximas and Mixtas produce female flowers on the vine and it doesn’t work nearly as well.
I never tried it on squash but it does work on pumpkins.

Well, pumpkins are squash, the Latin name for most of them is Cucerbita Pepo which is the same as zukes and Other squash and can cross with them.

Picked my first zuke and more beans and beets today. Not too exited bout the rain cause for me that means at least 2 more times mowing down Almost 2 acres of foxtails before they go to seed.
I love zucchini pickles!!! Yellow squash, too. Do you can them using same recipe you would for cucumber pickles?
Nothing is off limits when it comes to pickles. Vinegar brine and fermented are both good. Fermented dilly beans are my favorite.

The pumpkins already have fruit setting on them, I didn't prune those. But did trim back a bunch of vines today. I haven't trimmed them before but I think this should be okay. It has to be okay, because they were climbing the tomato cages and choking out part of the strawberry row. I did let them have the fence, they are amost all the way up it now.

I’ve never made zucchini pickles, sounds good
Gotta do something with all that zucchini! Eating it every night all summer doesn't get rid of it fast enough.

How do you like to preserve your zukes? Grating it and freezing wasn't really wonderful to me...

The black beauty eggplant is blooming. Beautiful flowers! I have some Thai eggplant still in baby stage I transplanted into the ground about a week ago as well. Needed to grow those seeds out and save more because my seed was something I saved back in 2013.

Seeds are getting expensive, as are starter plants. I'm going to make a little more of an effort to save seeds, had been lagging in that department since I had my first kid.

When you are ready to try something different, I can highly recommend Nadia Eggplant.
