I have recently acquired a pair of chanteclaire's and am considering breeding them exclusively since they're Canadian and endangered. I have never purposely breed chickens before and we currently have a mixed flock of chanteclaire's, GLW, RIR, Delaware, Lavender Orp., golden comet, silver spangled hamburg, houdan, EE/Americauna. I am looking for any advise. Do I need to keep the breeding pair separate from the other hens? I'm hoping he'll be a gentle roo but this is my first time with this breed, that's why I'm looking for any and all advice-suggestions etc. Thanks in advance.
