Any Christmas / Dec 2012 Hatch a long's?

I'll join ... I have two bators going and I set 26 silkie eggs in one and 24 silkie eggs in the other...the first lot are due Dec 20 and the other issue Christmas eve...
They are all shipped eggs from two top breeders so I'm excited...
BUT...the first lot I just candled and I am now down to 12 in the first bator...the others were either empty or blood ring... Oh well that's the chance you take with shipped eggs... The other bator with 24 in it are my very expensive eggs and am hoping for a good hatch from that...
I hope your second batch does well for you. Let us know come candling day

I cant wait to candle. Im waiting for day 7 and that is mon. The days are draaaaaaaging. Can you tell this is my first time. I was like oh this will be a breeze. Set em, forget em and glance at them occasionally. But I really really want to candle and see how many of the 21 are actually growing.

Well, my Christmas Day hatch is turning out to be a hatch date of Dec. 27th. Lady took longer to get them than she thought, so I just went up today and got them. They are pretty dirty but she told me not to wash them, brush them off if I wanted to and just incubate. I was supposed to get 18 Barred Rocks and 18 White Wyandottes, but she said her son helped sort the eggs and she thinks there are some Copper Maran eggs are in there too. That is good for me....I want to try Copper Marans, but can't justify the money for them. So, they are in the incubator now.
I am using my husbands spotlight to candle the eggs. I put a funnel on top of the spotlight and put the egg on top of the hole. I have dark brown eggs, so it is hard to see if they are indeed fertile or not. I won't even try to candle these until they are in the incubator 7 days. Then I am hoping I will be able to see something.

Oh lord knows i want to mess with my egg babies so bad every. Time i walk past lol. This isn't even my fist hatch but it feels like it!

Saturday is my day 7 for the ones in there now, ill be putting in more in a week. See... i might have already tried to peek! Lol

:)  I am joining! set eight eggs under a broody silkie around noon today. expect mostly frizzles, sizzles, naked necks. Just like christmas-you never know what is inside the box.

Thats how my hatchinge are going to be. I know for sure 6 of the 18 are going to be polish and polish/RIR cross. The others no idea. As i got them from a lady selling eggs down the road. Going to be a big surprise to see what i get.

I posted in another thread, but I just stared my first hatch ever on December 1st. They are mystery eggs from a friend of the family who has a large variety of chickens, so I have no idea what they could be!

I am resisting the urge to candle them until day 10. So far turning them and humidity are going well. Still very nervous. Hopefully I'll have some pips around Christmas!
