Any deaf BYCers?

No no apologies necessary, just giving one possible reason there might seem to be a lack of Deaf people on here. I'm aware of Deaf people voluntarily not disclosing that part of their identity on general Internet sites/forums/etc. One other reason simply is chook keeping has nothing to do with deafness..

SOO... what website is that?

I started teaching my son ASL when he was 2 because he wasnt speaking. I used the website www.lifeprint.com Totally free, online classes, etc. It was a great resource. By learning the signs with the words he learned to speak those words.

I dont know any def people but I think a few key phrases could help if you should come across an emergency involving a def person. My little sister is on the other end I suppose, being legally blind. I learned to never underestimate people, she is a Lawyer in Boston.

OK checking it and being forum-topical here..

Chicken sign on handspeak website is usually used for chicken meat/dinner. Use the same sign for a live chicken but add pecking motion on upturned palm. Basically, "bird (that)pecks ground".

Rooster is correct.. as far as I'm aware, there is no sign for hen, it's usually spelled out or same sign for (live) chicken..

Egg- correct.

Sign for deaf.. ehh, don't use the sign they show.. Use the same one in video for 'deaf way' (index finger ear-mouth) minus the 'way' part.

Skimmed some articles, seems like a decent site..

Hello!!
I am deaf completely in my left ear. (due to menigitis when i was 2).
My brother is hard of hearing and uses hearing aids, he married a deaf girl from college and now have 5 kids, all which hear great.
I know sign language, and use it at work if needed.
