Hello All,

I have a production RIR covering breeder Delaware hens in order to produce sex-links. I am hoping the ladies will be better layers than their Delaware mothers and the gents will be good for eating while young. I ended up with about 7 pullets and perhaps around 20 cockerels. Here is my problem: I actually have one Delaware roo in the yard (although he is extremely submissive and a lot younger than the production red) so there may be a few chicks in the mix that are not sex-linked.

Therefore, I am looking for information on sex-linked cockerels- I was of the understanding that ALL sex-linked (gold gened sex linked) cockerels would have some sort of red leakage, but now I am not so sure. I would like to be able to ID any true Delaware chicks if possible.

So, does anyone happen to know if gold gened sex-linked cockerels ALWAYS has some sort of red leakage or is it possible they could look EXACTLY like a true Delaware with no leakage? I have a couple cockerels that are showing zero red leakage.

Any info is greatly appreciated~

Zero, as in absolutely no red leakage I'd have to say are likely the prodigy of Delaware sire.

Red is hard to get rid of. Yes there are anomalies but statistically speaking they are exceedingly rare.
