In Kellyville Oklahoma? Has anyone had any experience with ordering from them? Good? Bad? Indifferent?
Just found them today online
We're gonna have to add some hens!
Got too many roos.
I tried questioning them about the birds that were photographed on their website...and they wouldn't give me a definite answer. And I understand about biosecurity, but I will not pay for birds that I cannot see the parent stock (whether in real life or in photographs).
Now, I may be thick, but what do photographs and biosecurity have to do with each other? Are they afraid someone may identify their bird, drop in by parachute, and steal off with them? For anyone who is selling to behave in this way is, well, really dumb and amazing!!!
The reasons she gave me for no photographs of specific breeds (Silver-Laced Cochins) she told me:
"We are a working farm and do not have time to take photographs of all of our breeds."
- I can understand that...but when someone wants to see the product...help them out?
Biosecurity reasons...she doesn't want anyone traipsing on her property to look at her birds.
Sounds fishy to me. I even have visitors here for guinea pigs all the time. We use germX as a requirment to touching our pigs and we do not let them mess with the chickens, but they can look at them. Biosecurity between animals. Most of our guinea pig customers come from the city and have never seen a chicken up close! LOLOL When I get a request for a picture of a pig and it's parents I do take them (if I don't already have them) and send them along. It may take me a day or two, but it happens. I wouldn't expect to sell them anything sight unseen.
When I do have people coming for birds this year I plan on having them pick up in my quail barn. That way I can disinfect the floor and the quail are in cages. I have all my brooders in there right now waiting. Only one with chicks so far! LOLOL
Not MUCH of a business if they aren't more willing to share info on there quality if you ask me..
Thank You, but no thanks! I think I'll stick to the tried true and tested to add hens when the time comes!
Thanks everyone for your input!
Oh dear. It seems that they are another bad egg. They seem to just swipe pics of the breeds in question off of other peoples websites, instead of showing pictures of their own birds. Very annoying when people do that.
And will you look at this! The pic they have up of a Buff Brahma seems to be a bird that won Reserve Feather Leg at the APA National (Tucson 1998) and Pacific Coast Bantam Club 1998 and is actually marked as a copywrited picture on somebody else's website !
