I have taken Spanish, French, Greek, Latin and Mandarin. I want to pick it back up maybe Russian this time or Arabic. It always seemed to come naturally which is probably why I loved learning different ones. My 6 year old inherited my love for it. He started learning both Spanish and Mandarin when he was 5. He is currently using Dinolingo. We live in the Midwest and he greeted someone the other day “Ni hao ma?” and then bowed. The funniest part is that he has blond hair, blue eyes and a lighter olive skin tone so the lady he said it to looked genuinely confused😂

I was learning Spanish, but i wasnt catching onto it.
So now im learning German
I love German! I learned it for 2 years in high school and loved it. I actually found it fairly easy to catch onto, and fun. I just kind of got out of practice since I didn't have a reason to be learning it and got busy, but I'd love to pick it up again in the future and travel to Germany.

How is German going for you? Do you like it more than Spanish?

That's awesome! Yeah, I swear some people are just more naturally talented at learning languages. That's awesome your son has inherited that.

And I do recommend trying Russian! It's a challenge for sure, but a cool language to learn. People get intimidated by the cyrillic characters, but it actually doesn't take very long to be able to read in Russian. Russian grammar is a pain in the butt though, and just remembering some of the words because they are often long and bear zero resemblance to the English word. I've learned to just keep chugging through though without getting too hung up on memorizing grammar charts, and it's still starting to come together just from keeping the grammar rules in mind and speaking with natives. It's gonna take a lonnnnggg time though.

I just started a few weeks ago, but its going well.
I do like it more than Spanish.

Nice! I've heard that's a difficult one. How's it going for you? And what made you want to learn French?
Oh, it's not too bad! I'm using Duolingo, so my progress isn't as fast as I would like it to be, but my friend got me a dictionary, so that has helped speed things along.
Interesting story, there! One, I think it's pretty - I tried Spanish, but it felt like I was trying to speak with rocks in my mouth, haha! (No offence to Spanish - it's a beautiful language when spoken properly; I just can't make it work for me.)
I've heard that French from France is very different from French from Canada, but I've had a full-on conversation with a very kind Canadian family and got on just fine, so...?🤷 Good enough for me!

Very cool!!! That must have felt good to be able to have a conversation like that. Congrats!
