any flooding from the rements of Erin?

I hope no one on BYC is getting any flooding from the rements of Erin. I know we have some Okl. on here.

Probably need to stop watching CNN or MSNBC, just to much stuff going on. It is depressing!

I don't think what we got was Erin's remnants, but I do know that yesterday my county, which had a drought this year, got caught up on our rain-over three inches in one day! One county to the north of us had so many flooded roads that they ran out of road closed signs. My county escaped that fate, but if we'd got much more rain, we would have.

We had road closings,some trees down in my yard,but spared the awful flooding that happened too close....so many lives lost here in Oklahoma.so sad

We had some flooding here in Abilene. During the rains most of it was localized flooding. The drainage in the area just couldn't take the water. Our neighborhood has bar ditches for drainage but they've gotten so shallow over the years they are barely a depression by the road. Most of the neighborhood has gravel drives or a thin strip of asphalt from the road that the water pours over. Our driveway is a big U-shaped concrete drive that meets the street in two spots. The driveway and our house sit a foot higher than the surrounding properties and acts as a dam for everything coming down a half mile of road. There are 12" culverts under both section of drives, but they aren't big enough for the heavy rains. Everytime we get a heavy rain the water builds up in our neigbor's yard until most of the yard is under water. We got enough rain this time that it backed up into their house.

After the rains stopped the entire area drained for a day and filled the local reservoirs to overflowing and flooded parts of downtown Abilene. Numerous businesses and residential areas flooded Saturday evening and Sunday morning.

Although not related to Erin, Minnesota and Wisconsin got dumped on, with over five counties being declared disaster areas. My mother lives just south of LaCrosse, WI and that area recieved the worst of it. Almost 12" of rain overnight. That area along the Mississippi river betwen MN and WI is lined with bluffs along the river valley with many people building on the side of the bluffs. With all the rain there were numerous mudslides and several houses on both sides of the river slid down off of the bluffs blocking the highways below. There was one that crashed down onto the highway just a few miles north of where my mother lives plus a train derailment along the same stretch of road. They are cleaning up a huge mess up there.

Oklahoma got hammered big time from the remnants of Erin. I have discussed this at length on other threads so I won't here but flooding is still occurring today from all of the rain we had Saturday. Some over ten inches in just a few hours.

thank goodness no one had to big of problems some people i saw on tv, that is awful. we have alot of louisiana in a flood plane. i wonder if these people even have flood insurance. just awful thing!
