Hi!

Newbie from Hillsborough County! Hoping to finish my coop this weekend and get two or three silkie hens very soon! Anything in particular I should be concerned about? I have read a lot of posts here and tried to incorporate as many best practices as I could into my coop design. The girls new home is 4 x 4 and will have an 8 x 4 run, half under the coop (the coop is elevated 2' off the ground) and the other half to one side. It will be in the shade at all times and I am going to use sand in the coop and the run. I have hardware cloth for the run and plan to bury it too.

Yep, they pop up ocasionally, but my trusty 1100 will knock'em down pretty quick. Gonna be restocking my coop with some Jersey Giants here in the next week or so. Got my buddy next door getting ready for some also. Plenty of cluckers in this area, everymorning a crow or three floats thru the window.
