Any Gamers Here?

Oh yeah, who’s getting a Switch 2? I’m going to get one primarily to play TOTK at a high frame rate. Couldn’t get into it when I tried it last year. I never left the tutorial sky island. The build mechanics were tedious for me with the choppy gameplay. If the game runs smooth, I may enjoy it more. I’m so spoiled by high frame rates and smoothness on the PS5 Pro that its hard to go back to sub 4k, 30fps gameplay. The one exception is for some reason, Cyberpunk seems to look better in its animations at 30fps than 60fps, as does Dead Dead Redemption. I’m guessing those games were originally designed with 30fps in mind and 60fps messes up the timing of things. Oblivion looks better at 60fps than 30fps, even though 30fps sports higher resolution. Same with Fallout 4. Monster Hunter Wilds looks right locked at 40fps with ray tracing on. 60fps looks too smooth and dull, and 30fps too choppy. 40fps looks perfect where any slight slowdown that may happen in monster movements just serves to make the battle look more cinematic and the monsters more epically large.

I grabbed persona 5 royal and have been enjoying that lately. I decided to play on hard although once I get more familiar with combat (this is my first persona game) I might switch it to merciless. I am still very early in the game but so far hard hasn't been too bad. I normally don't play games on hard mode (I play just to chill) but figured I'm good at strategy games and the game with the most hours in my steam library is hunter call of the wild which by it's very nature of being a hunting sim is a stealth game so I figured I'd be fine. Sneaking up on enemies in persona is definitely much easier than sneaking up on a herd of cape buffalo

Speaking of cape buffalo in hunter cotw, before I grabbed persona 5, I decided to hunt them. I pretty much only use the bow in that game so I had to get much closer than I otherwise would (preferably within 50 yards but I will certainly take longer shots if I can. Went well for the most part but I certainly got charged and trampled a few times. Imagine a herd of one ton to 2 ton animals and they're all mad at you. Cape buffalo aren't called black death and widow makers for nothing. IRL they are considered the most dangerous of the big 5 and while they are very aggressive in the game they are even worse IRL. Not only are they aggressive IRL but they hold grudges and take revenge. I would certainly not get anywhere near them IRL lol
I’d like to see COTW have a current gen overall in graphics. Then I’d probably play it more. Here’s COTW compared to Way of the Hunter, both on my Pro:

I thought about trying way of the hunter but figured I already have one large hunting game, I don't need 2 especially since I own almost all the dlc for cotw other than a few weapon packs and the cosmetic packs (got most of the dlc when humble bundle had their cotw bundle a few years ago). In any case both are stunning games and I'm glad both exist :D

There’s some things COTW does better, and other things WOTH does better. WOTH has some well developed animal AI and herd management dynamics. More realistic in that regard than COTW.

Yet the developers for WOTH are European and they seem to have personal experience (or good research) with animal
species found common to the American West or Europe, but poor understanding of whitetail deer. Its painful to see how unrealistic the whitetails behave and sound. I hunt the southeastern US IRL, so I appreciate COTW’s Mississippi map and its attempt to present a kind of hunting I’m used to. I would probably make an entire game of COTW’s Mississippi map if the game had a big gfx update. WOHT has some gorgeous vistas to look at and its a treat to simply sit on a mountain side and watch a group of mule deer feed through the meadow below.

I don't think I'll be getting a Switch 2- it took us forever just to get our first switch, and we haven't even had it a year. If we ever get around to getting the 2nd one, it'll be years from now
