So i just lost my two roosters, Buckey and Dumpling to foxes and once we reenforce the pen and coop we will be getting two new roosters. I have been looking around but haven't really been able to find anything on temperaments. Everything I read just talks about if their good for meat or eggs which i guess is a plus but I'm more interested in having pets and don't plan to eat any of my chickens. So if you know any breeds that are friendly and the roosters get along well let me know please thank you!

Silkies are docile, sweet, and many people actually call them 'lap chickens' so if you wanted pets that would be a good breed choice. Brahmas are also docile, and so are breeds like orpingtons and australorps.

X2 on Pyxis. Silkies are ideal lap pets. They are adorable, sweet, gentle, friendly, and funny little birds. Their only downside is that they are poor layers. If you want excellent laying pet chickens, I would suggest Australorps. Not only are the extremely hardy and calm and gentle (my family made lap pets of them), but they are the best layers of the standard, brown egg laying breeds. Other breeds that are good layers and easily tamed into lap pets include Orpingtons, Brahmas, Sussex, and Faverolles. Whatever breed you decide to get, good luck with your flock.
