Any guesses about Rosie? She a 13-week old EE

I think Mrs. Eggna is right about having other roos to compete against. We ended up with 3 roos, unintentionally (but now love having our boys). I think we had a little testosterone fest going on which is why they all started crowing so early. We had one trying to fight his 3 female brooder mates at 3 weeks! The girls were like..."What the???" He was trying to emulate the 7 week old roos in the next brooder (they were divided by a mesh panel).

I have heard of hens taking on roo characteristics. Waiting 6 months to know if you have a hen or a roo...dang!

I do have a Speckled Sussex that I know for sure is a roo.....he hasn't crowed yet either. They are the same age.

EEs can be sexed by color? I have a light gray one. She is quite big, but she is also very laid back and doesn't seem much like a rooster. I'll go on thinking Tess stays a girl.

BTW - I *think* yours looks like a pullet to me. My RSLs all have a little different coloring around the neck with pointy feathers, and I know for sure they're girls. haha.

I'd like to see this done - with accuracy, as I find it a difficult statement to believe. Maybe Cowgirl71 can teach us?

Believe it or not, it's actually true. If you want a really comprehensive rundown on how it's done, PM Illia. She's our resident EE expert, and very knowledgeable. Plus she's super duper nice.
