The barred one might not look like a rooster yet, but since the mother was barred and the father was not, it's not possible to be a female.One looks like a barred rock to me but the other one im not sure. Neither one looks like a rooster if you were wondering about that too.

Im sorry, I must not have seen the post about what breed the rooster was I figured it was a barred rock because the chick looked so close to one.Since the rooster isn't a barred Rock, the chick simply can't be one. In order to be any pure breed animal, both parents must be the same breed.
They're young for rooster characteristics, but our knowledge of sex-linked genetics and how the barring gene is inherited allows us to tell the little barred chick is a rooster.
