Our broody hen hatched two chicks. I think they're roosters. My hubby says no. They came from a local farmer. They should be americauna x Rhode Island Red (I think) Care to weigh in?

These two spend a lot of time bumping chests and flapping their wee wings @ each other. I don't recall seeing our hens playing that game. Fingers crossed they're girls. I'll post better (hopefully) pics in a couple of weeks as suggested.

Congrats on your two cute little chicks and welcome to BYC!

As others have said, wait a bit to pass any judgements on sex. I have had pullets bump chests before so I wouldn't go by that. Unless of course there are other things along side like crowing or even super large red combs and wattles!

Still thinking roos. Our little flock of hens never got themselves in as many situations as these two have come up with in just a bit over three weeks. They hop up ladders then can't come down. Unlike our girls, these guys are hen raised. They seem to think scratching is the only way to eat so the feeder is constantly knocked over and spilled out. They're so active.

Not the best pic (the goats keep photo bombing) but they're 5 weeks old now. Roosters?

I think both are roosters. They look a lot like White Leghorns, but I know that you said they weren't.

Yes, I'm pretty certain they're roosters too. The guy we got the eggs from told us what mix they should be. He also told us, in his experience, 75-percent of the time hatched eggs are roosters. Guess he was right ;)
