I got a Rare Breed assortment from Hoover’s through Tractor Supply. I’m thinking four are Salmon Faverolles since they have extra toes. The light grey ones I am leaning towards Lavender Orpingtons but one has a slightly darker face so I’m not 100% sure they are the same. As for the 3 black ones #1 is getting some copper-ish color as her feathers grow out. She has been the biggest since day one and the friendliest. I’m really hoping she is in fact a she. #2 has feathered legs. #3 is pretty much all black. Beak, feathers and feet.
They are 3 weeks old so I’m not sure if anyone can really tell at this point or if we need to wait a little longer, but I’d love to hear your guesses. It’s so much fun trying to figure out what we have, but I’m dying to know. I was really, really hoping for a blue laced red Wyandotte, but I’m almost certain none are those.
Here is the list of possibilities from the website:
Barnevelder, Blue Andalusian, Blue Laced Red Wyandotte, Buff Brahma, Cochin, Columbian Wyandotte, Cuckoo Marans, Dark Brahma, Dominique, French Black Copper Marans, French Cuckoo Marans, French Wheaten Marans, Lavender Orpington, Light Brahma, Midnight Majesty Marans, Olive Egger, Prairie Bluebell Egger, Salmon Faverolle, Sapphire Olive Egger, Silver Lakenvelder, Speckled Sussex, Starlight Green Egger, and Welsumme
Salmon Faverolles?
All four have extra toes, though one feathered out a lot quicker and is more grayish mixed with the brown.
Light Grey #1
Light Grey #2
I had a hard time getting her photo but she’s a little darker around her eyes than the other.
Black #1
The biggest and I’m keeping my fingers crossed she’s a she. Her feathers have copper highlights out in the sun. Beak is mixed colors and so are her feet.
Black #2
Still has a good bit of light coloring. Legs are feathered.
Black #3
She is almost completely black, except a little white feather on her wings. and is the smallest.
