I have several Welsummers and 3 Olive Eggers here ( bred from a Welsummer mix) and I'm trying to figure out gender now. The 6 or 7 Welsummers pictured were supposed to be female, but I am doubting they are sll female. 1 picture of each. Thanks

Ooo the guessing game, where did you get the chicks from / how were they sexed if you know?

I'm guessing #6 is a cockerel because there is some color in both the started waddles and comb.

I got them as sexed female Welsummers from Deer Run Farm of MD. The OE's I hatched from Deer Run hatching eggs. They said 90% accuracy with sexed chicks. Ah ok.

Agreed, if it's not tractor supply, then you do have a good chance of having all pullets. Additionally, welsummers can be autosexed so that's double the accuracy with sexing. It's most likely closer to 98% accuracy
Okay. Because of that and after looking at the pictures, do you think most or all are female, based on combs and wattles?

Well, combs and wattles aren't exactly accurate, especially for the welsummer mixes. A full-body side profile for each (not held so we can see the best) with a paired face picture would make it so people have the most accurate guesses. Even then, educated guesses can still be wrong because there are outliers. I don't have welsummers myself, so I couldn't say my guess is all that accurate.

The Welsummers are easy, any with red breasts and gold on the back of their necks are females. Welsummer roosters will have a black breast and tail. I see 2 males above total so far.

Thanks! Which two do you think are males?
