Hi All,
we were given a assortment of eggs by a friend who did not know what type of chickens they were. we incubated them and had wonderful hatch rate of 22 out of 24 . Now they are about 8 weeks old and I am hoping that you all can give me some ideas to what this pretty birds are. we were not really wanting to increase our egg flock but they are all so beautiful they are all staying, i am not posting all of the pictures for there are a few i can reconize ie cochins and Brahmas. please give me your best guesses The last 2 pics are our ridley bronze hertiage turkeys. Oh my goodness if you all dont have turkeys you must get some, they are hilarous, the little thoms will already try to puff up and charge you. so much fun

Some of them look like mixes. The chick in pics 4 and 10 is a silver laced wyandotte. The chick in pic 9 looks like maybe a Wellsummer. Also, the chick in pics 1 and 5 is a cockerel. Not sure if you knew that already, but I thought I'd tell you anyway.

1. New Hampshire (?) cockerel
2. Blue laced Wyandotte or blue Barnevelder maybe pullet
3. Blue laced Wyandotte or blue Barnevelder cockerel
4. Silver laced Wyandotte pullet

8. Wyandotte cockerel
9. Campine pullet (?)
10. Wyandotte pullet
11. New Hampshire (?) Cockerel

Thank you, I am sure many are mixes, any ideas what they might be mixed with ? also the cockerels, do you keep mixed cockerels ? or eat them ? what is your opinion ?

thank you,
the turkeys are so much fun, mellow sweet and funny, a firend was given a couple of doz mixed and pure bred eggs that were going to be just eaten or destroyed so I incubated them for fun. so we have absolutely no idea what they are, i was surprised at how pretty so many of them are. would you keep the mixed cockerel are eat him / we have not done a lot of roosters, just starting to get larger in space and coops

I would keep the one you like best, and then give away/sell the others. I personally could never eat or kill any animal that I have raised and cared for, but that's just me. You have to do what you think will be best, and what you think you will be able to cope with.

You can keep them, eat them, or give them away. Definitely need to separate them from the females if you keep them all. I agree that they look like mixes as well.

Depends. Can you keep a rooster where you live? So you have a pre-existing older rooster? Are you using your flock for eggs, meat, or pets who lay eggs? Or are you hoping to use them for showing birds? :D
