Any Hamburg owners out there?

Yep, Flash my avatar is a SSH X WCB Polish. His brother is the same mix but not as spangled.

I've never had a Hamburg go broody although some of my girls take forever to lay.

Yeah, my girl takes at least an hour, if not more to lay. She is very predictable, so that's a plus My girl didn't get any spangling. She has a few freckles of black, but that's it.

I was just wondering how many people keep Hamburgs on BYC because I never see any photos or hear about them.
Anyone keep them or breed them?
I really like them and am a breeder so just curious.

Hi there- I have silver spangled hamburgs, but have always wanted gold spangled as well. Do you sell those? Chicks or hatching eggs? I find gold pencilled are available occasionally, and several places say they have gold spangled, but never any available. Thanks! I LOVE my silver spangled, btw. They're still just babies, and I don't expect eggs before spring, but great personalities.

I live in Fresno CA and am also looking for some Bantam hamburg eggs, chicks, whatever at this point , lol! They are a hard breed to find. I have a roo I may be able to trade ..... He is a silver spangle

I have 2 silver spangled hens, which I got from My Pet Chicken. They're a lot sweeter than I was led to believe, I can pick them up. I really want a couple of golden spangles, but so far can only find gold penciled.

I have a Silver Spangled Hamburg (Penny) she's my smallest and the most feisty. She's always challenging the other girls. I got her from Purely Poultry. She's almost 5 months and isn't laying yet but I hope any day now. Her name is Penny after the girl Dalmatian from 101 Dalmatians because she reminds me of one of those doggies with all her spots. She likes to stand up tall and show off her looks. The feathers on top of her head stand up when she's strutting around the yard. She will be my only white egg layer. Hope this helps.

she might have taken so long to lay because of the time of year..... all breeds are a bit slow if they are maturing in the darkest part of the year.

Nice that her egg was a good size!
