There has been some concern expressed elsewhere that the heat should come from above, so the bulb is better placed high.
However, it doesnt seem to matter after the success enjoyed by Miss Prissy and her heater boxes. So I guess the choice is yours.
The homemade incubator was once the result of tinkering with junk from the spares box. It still can be. but it has also advanced somewhat thanks to great resources like this site.
I dont know what well do, though, when incandescent bulbs are off the market....
