Any home remedies for an infected toe?

Ingrown toenail (???) has become infected and hurts like crazy.

I've expelled some of the pus

and soaked in hot salted water, plus have it wrapped tight and covered with antibiotic ointment. Pain generally has to be very severe before it bothers me, but this is bad enough that it is making me sick. Anyone have any home cures which might help?

If its making you sick you need to get to the doctor for some anti-biotics. Other than that soak it in an epsome salts bath, add some anti-baterial laundry/dish soap. My mom swears by using Tide, but its too expensive and these days the all pretty much add the anti-biotics to the formula.

There is a cheap cream that my mom uses becuase she has the same problem. But i cant remember what it was or the name of it. As soon as she is out of work i will call her and ask her.

Other than soaking and getting the offending toe nail OUT of your toe(which is gonna hurt like a SOB..), not much you can do.. wrap it with antibiotic cream..
BUt if its got pus.. i'd say a doc may be needed..

Epsom salts plus white vinegar; you probably need to see the doctor, though.

If you already have pus, I would try soaking in hydrogen peroxide, also. But if that doesn't get rid of the infection, or if it spreads, I would see a doctor, as the other folks have said.

put some pure honey on the infected part.. yup.. works wonders for getting the infection out

but other than that.. if the nail is still digging in.. you're gonna need to get it out otherwise it will keep on getting infected

That pain is the worst I have ever had.
You need to cut that thing out, that's the only way it will end.
