Any Hope??

Good idea but we have problems with that. I don’t know if the drake is still in the pond and I can’t set a trap as it’s a protected area by police. Both methods might seem weird to the police and the fence is high so the drake wouldn’t be able to get out unless he flies.

It's worth a shot, If they are quacking he will most likely come, you could also try using a duck call. As far as trapping, It's worth asking them if you can.

So sorry to hear that your drake flew off. I released my 5 ducks. Three returned the same day, and one returned about 3 days later. Keep your eyes open for him. I didn't see any of mine gracefully swoop back. All 4 were walking, trying to get back into their pen. Three were on the other side of our yard fence, so I had to pry that up so they could get back into the yard. Keeping my fingers crossed for you!

My male mallard duck flew away yesterday morning. We went to find him but couldn’t, after over 8 hours of finding him we found him at the local car park. He was under a car. He wasn’t damaged and the local police got a broom and poked him out, he then flew even further away into a nearby pond. We cannot enter the area as it is blocked by gates and is trespassing to enter. We raised him since he was a baby and we bonded very well. I think he was hiding in some trees in the area with the pond. Will he ever return? The 2 female ducks don’t seem to mind but it’s heartbreaking to let go of a creature that was raised since birth. Is there any chance he would come back?
I lost my little wood duck at the lake on his birthday. Formed search party and combed area. Finally gave up. Longest drive home ever. Next day friend went back and there was duckworth sitting on beach.hapy as clam. We trespassed to and i waded thru pond thought i found him. Wrong duck. Just keep trying. I pray. Mine never did have sense of direction

Not sure how things work in real England, but this New Englander would have no qualms about going over that fence. Unless it’s a public water supply, that’ll get you tossed in jail!
Seriously hope your boy comes home. I should probably clip my call drakes wings.
My hero just walked in and said the same thing. Bring a net. Waders. I figure its lucky he walked in now. I hope. Because he was the only one who thought to go back. I had given up. We need computer chips.lol

I’ve looked at other people’s cases as well. Is it possible he might have flown away in search of more female mallards as right now he is in his mating season. If he is and does, is it possible he could return in the winter?
We thought that he was looking for another duck too but i seen to many times they want to be found and just get disorrietated.i always imagined what it would be like if we wouldnt have found duckworth. Always waiting and looking . Everybird in the sky you would hope it was them.it actually made it bitterly easy when we lost him to cancer to remember how many miracles he pulled off. Just showed up by mailbox one day and i picked him up. And he had one more miracle up his sleeve. We had brought in a paralyzed chicken with marricks disease to die. Mainly cuz i didnt want to put her down , couldnt walk. Bad shape. Shes here right now. I wont have made it through losing duckworth without her

The police were there to ‘help’ us but they said we could not enter and the pond has no entrance.
