How long should I keep an eye out for him? Some cases, ducks returned after a day, others after months.

oh no! i’m so sorry, i hope he comes back, it seems like it is certainly a good possibility, though. My male mallard duck flew away yesterday morning. We went to find him but couldn’t, after over 8 hours of finding him we found him at the local car park. He was under a car. He wasn’t damaged and the local police got a broom and poked him out, he then flew even further away into a nearby pond. We cannot enter the area as it is blocked by gates and is trespassing to enter. We raised him since he was a baby and we bonded very well. I think he was hiding in some trees in the area with the pond. Will he ever return? The 2 female ducks don’t seem to mind but it’s heartbreaking to let go of a creature that was raised since birth. Is there any chance he would come back?
Yes..Try it? Might work?..Mallards come here to get my Call hens each spring and my Drake tries to leave too..
