so, 2 weeks ago i purchased 10 chicks (5 frizzle cochins, 5 silkies)online and opened the box to find 13 EXTRA chicks (i knew i was gunna get extra for warmth, but i didnt know it was gunna be so many!) and i dont know what breed they are. also, they came with my banties, but idk if they are banties as they are bigger, but idk if that is just their breed because they seem smaller than my dad's layer chicks, but they are one week older than them.

here are pics of one of them (they all look the same)

here is one next to one of my silkie and frizzle chicks to so size comparison:

and here is all of them together (this is not their brooder, just my picture stage)

next, my dad got some egg layers (rhode island reds, danish brown leg horns, and gold comets) but he never noticed that one of his chick's has feathered legs. any idea what breed she is? she is a very sweet lil chick :)

THANKS!!

When you order less than the minimum, or the hatchery doesn't feel the chicks you purchased will survive the shipment, they will often fill the order with their spare cockerels, free of charge of course. Cockerels are cheap, and people usually don't order them, so they have plenty of extra. Your red ones look like Rhode Islands, at least what I can remember as I haven't had RIR chicks in a while. I am not too sure about the other chick... maybe dark brahma? Not too many breeds have the dark coloring, rose comb, and leg feathering. It is hard to say, but knowing what your hatchery carries would definitely narrow down the possibilities.

The red chicks are all Production Reds and the last chick is a Buff Brahma. The colors are a bit dark for a BB, but I think it's because he is hatchery quality.
