I doesn't look normal. But since I'm new to this I probably don't really know what normal is lol

It's a chicken chick, not a Turkey it's a TurkenI posted a few pictures below. She hatched from a friend and she's a turkey. He neck is all red and she has clear goop in her eye
Auto correct got me on that one. Apparently siri has no idea what a Turken isThey are called Turkens, not turkeys. Turkeys are a completely different type of fowl.
It might be soiled from the chicken wiping her face on her back. I'm noticing more and more that she likes to rest her face there when she dozes off. It's a chicken chick, not a Turkey it's a Turken
Now that we all have that straight
Tell us more about your concerns - you mention clear goop in the eye. In one of your photos underneath the beak is wet (greasy) looking - is that ointment or is that from the discharge?
Also showing photos of the back of the chick - the feathers are soiled (?) is that from the chick wiping it's face on the feathers?
Is it one eye or both? Was the eye like that when you got the chick and do you have other chickens already?
It's possible the chick just got debris in the eye and it needs to be flushed out well and you get a good luck to see if something is stuck in there. A peck to the eye is also possible and the eye is infected. Respiratory Disease is a concern as well - do you notice other symptoms, mucous/runny nose, coughing, sneezing, etc.?
I would flush the eye 2-3 times a day with saline, press out any debris or pus, then apply an eye ointment.
Ask your friend if any of her other chicks or adults have or have had goopy eyes, runny nose, coughing, sneezing, etc. If the answer is yes and you have an existing flock - then consider giving the chick back to help reduce the spread of disease to your birds.
How is she doing? It might be soiled from the chicken wiping her face on her back. I'm noticing more and more that she likes to rest her face there when she dozes off.
It's in both eyes. I flushed with saline and put some antibiotic ointment on them. She seemed to open them more after I did that.
She has been fine for the last 2 weeks, no other chickens with respiratory stuff at her former home and she doesn't seem to have signs of it.
Her skin was bright red so I added the antibiotic ointment to it tooI didn't see anything in the eyes except for the goop.
Did I answer everything lol
I flushed her out today and tried cleaning the goop off her back. She seemed to yell at me when I touched her neck. She’s not sneezing or any other respiratory signs. And her eyes didn’t seem any better. So I’ll try again tomorrow. I did add electrolytes as I’m in Texas and it’s the hottest week of the year so far. So I’m not sure if it will help. I’m just grasping at straws lolHow is she doing?
I would continue to flush out the eye, press out the goop and apply your eye ointment 2-3 times a day.
It's concerning since it's both eyes - usually if it's irritation/infection from getting something in the eye - it's just one eye, with it being both, then I would be concerned it may be an indication of respiratory disease.
Keep us posted on how she gets along and if the eyes get better.
Her neck seems tender?I flushed her out today and tried cleaning the goop off her back. She seemed to yell at me when I touched her neck. She’s not sneezing or any other respiratory signs. She now has bubbly in her eye.Her neck seems tender?
Electrolytes are fine to offer, I would make fresh plain water available as well.
Hard to know which direction to go. If respiratory illness, depending on which one you are dealing with an antibiotic may help with symptoms - they are not a cure and birds would still be carriers of the illness even when recovered. Tylosin Powder is used to treat disease like Mycoplasma, but it's been very hard to find. Doxy-Tyl (Doxycycline/Tylosin) would be the next thing that might work. https://www.jedds.com/shop/doxy-tyl-100g/
What’s the best option here in your opinion? Will he spread it to all of my other chickens even after I give him the antibiotics and get him well? I’ve had these kids for 2 weeks and this is my first experience with any kind of chicken.
